Computer Aided Engineering
Tyco Environmental Systems uses Autocad 2000i Mechanical, Mechanical Desktop 5, and ProEngineer CAD platforms for its solidmodeling, visualisation and drafting requirements. Files can be handled in current and earlier releases of Autocad DWG files, IGES, STEP, SAT, and DXF formats.
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used extensively in the design of valves, venturis, nozzles, and the simulation of fabric filter cleaning. Results are verified through laboratory and field measurements. This technology was key in the high performance leap of the Millennium series valves.
Prototyping / Rapid Prototyping
Tyco Environmental Systems has a dedicated prototyping center, including NC lathes and milling machines. The CNC machining centres, plastic injection moulding, and aluminium diecasting technologies used in manufacturing can all be used to aid the development of quality products.
Partnerships with rubber component suppliers and rapid prototyping shops allow Tyco Environmental Systems to quickly generate complex part models for dimensional analysis and performance verification.

Performance Testing
The Tyco Environmental Systems laboratory is capable of testing the reverse pulse jet valve flow performance of its own valves and those of its competitors. This is done to BS1042, and also on the blowtube in more typical valve application configurations. Valve, blowtube and tank pressure results are recorded with other data using the National Instruments LabView application.
Our durability testing facilities allow the verification of valve performance with air and water under extremes of temperature and pressure. A water-hammer test facility is also available.
Environmental Testing & Material Analysis
Environmental testing for the extremes of temperature are conducted in house. Corrosion effects are assessed with the help of partner laboratories to automotive industry standards. Where the impact of particular chemicals on product performance is unknown, this can be assessed with the assistance of material suppliers and partner laboratories.
Software Authoring
Tyco Environmental Systems has software and firmware authoring capabilities, exemplified in the Goyen Electronics product range, the Connect software, and also the Cleaning Systems Modeling tool, Go-Co.
